shizuoka-shimizu

Breakfast was krazy! the dining area was so teeny.

Luckily they allowed us to take food up to the room, so we made our own bento and ate in our room

I was only gonna go once to the buffet, so I took one of everything

This buffet had a nice variety of foods and I loved that they had a decent coffee machine.

After breakfast, we checked out and caught the bus to Nihondaira and Kunozan

The last time we visited this area was in 2020.

At the time, the Yume Terrace was not open.

This time around it was, but Mount Fuji was sleeping in.

I purchased this Mount Fuji bag
and this dark chocolate with Shizuoka mikan on it from the gift shop.

We caught the bus from Nihondaira to Shimizu and were greeted with this!

This was the view in 2020...so sad yeah?!

I heard they are building a hospital...glad they will get a new hospital but this is still sad to see

We dropped off our things at the hotel we would be staying at and grabbed some things for lunch, then jumped back on the bus to go to Miho no Matsubara.

The last time we were here was in 2016.

Lots of changes!

Like this Miho no Shirube, which promotes cultural activities and an area to learn more about Mount Fuji and the surrounding areas.

Mount Fuji was hiding, showing just the top of her head!

Points if you can spot her.

I had my maguro menchi katsu burger on the beach, the wind was so krazy though, that it was fahreezing!

Satoshi had his sabazushi.

We got back to Shimizu and were still early for check in, so we walked around and found a shopping arcade that we had not seen the last time around.
Lots of vintage looking stores and buildings.

After checking in, we rested our feet and then went to Totosuke which we visited in 2020

In that time, they have become super popular, so we had to wait for a table.

Satoshi had their daily sashimi set

I ordered the maguro kamaage (fried tuna collar), Satoshi's set also came with one.

We also had this back in 2020 and it did not disappoint!
I also ordered the sakura ebi kakiage, which we also had back in 2020 and this also did not disappoint.
Satoshi wanted kaki fry (fried oysters), so he ordered some and gave me a couple, the oysters were big and "meaty", the batter on these were thick and it stayed crunchy.

Look at that blob of mayo!

It was nice to see them doing well especially after the pandemic.

A favorite photo...Shizuoka people...the Totosuke waiters

Satoshi wanted ice cream after dinner, so we went to the Aeon next to our hotel.

This is where I found canned Shizuoka Oden...hoping this tastes good...
I also bought some stuff from the hotel vending machine.

Another long day, lots of eating and walking.

that is a lot of eating! Too bad Toyoko Inn has the most basic breakfasts. But good enough for the price. And, my favorite snacks!
