hawaii remembers

I went through my clothes the other day and didn't realize I had so many Lion Coffee T-shirts.

When I worked as a demonstrator, this was my "uniform".

These t-shirts are thick, some were even kona coffee dyed.

Since I only use them when I come home, they are still in pretty good condition.

I am kinda glad that I don't demonstrate anymore though, it was hard on the feet and back, having to stand up for about 4 hours every time.

Plus, lugging all that equipment everywhere in my little 2-door Honda Civic.

Though my car did smell nice when the coffee was freshly brewed...and not when some spilt in my car...

I was also sad to hear that my former boss, Jim Delano had passed away earlier this year...too young!

All in all, it was a great experience for me.

I worked as a demonstrator to "work through" my fear of speaking in front of people. Though I still feel that I probably wouldn't be able to give a speech in front of a crowd.

With the job though you get to meet all sorts of people, see all sorts of personalities.

Good times.

That's a sweet memory Kat! Lion coffee does have a unique fragrance.... we buy it on occasion from Marukai.

Oh, what a nice tribute to remember your former boss here, I'm also shocked when I find out these things upon going home. I did have to smile at these lovely Lion coffee photos - I can smell that delicious coffee just reading this. (P.S. I can relate about speaking-in-crowds, I forced myself to do radio for a time to get over my fears! :))

I love their superior roasts these days Kirk :)

Sometimes I feel like Urashima Taro (a.k.a. Rip Van Winkle) coming home Jude...ooh radio sounds scary! glad you got over your fears!

Take care you two!

Cute "vintage" t-shirts, Kat! Lion Coffee is the best! I wish they would set up more cafes and kiosks like Starbucks and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf; I would definitely buy my morning coffee from them if there was a place nearby. (Oh, if you're at all interested in Peet's Coffee, there's both a branch and a kiosk at the Sheraton Waikiki, just to let you know.)

Thanks Anon! Lion used to have a coffee counter in their factory, dunno if it still exists...I got my fix of Peet's at that kiosk at the SW the other day :) I'm posting about it soon.

Take care.

I have never tried Lion coffee but am itching to do so now. Unfortunately they don't have any outlet in my region.

Btw, I like your t-shirts! I think it so heartwarming to find pieces of your memories and let yourself be in the moment again.

Take care!

I like the shirts--they are fun. I still have quite an assortment of coffee shirts and other stuff hanging about from my previous life. ;-)

I hope you like them when you get a chance to try them Moshi!

Ooh you should post about your shirts Debinhawaii ;)

Take care you two.

Love those vintage Lions T-shirt. I remember that they sold Lions Coffee at UH. For many of us, that was our first experience with coffee and it set a high standard for us.
