box of treasures

My 95-year old grandma recently moved into a care home, don't worry nothing is wrong with her and she is fine.

Anyway, by moving, she had to give up a lot of personal items, which included a lot of her cookbooks (which I didn't get to check out, oh well!).

One thing that my mom had in her possession was her box of clipped recipes...what a box of treasures!

Some recipes are handwritten, some typed (do some of you know what a typewriter is? and no they weren't electric back then?! I think I may be showing my age by saying this...)

Wow, blast from the past recipes too, things that used to be "trendy" back in the day...

Not only that, but she kept the contents pretty organized too.

I took some of the recipes that I thought might be fun to try when I go back into the kitchen in a couple of months.

Hope they'll turn out good...Thanks for sharing Grandma!

How lucky you are to have your grandma alive and well at 95. And what a treasure you have!!

95! That's just incredible, and maybe you can ask her what's the secret for living a full life. My grandpa lived until 92 and he only ate rice and some kind of filipino veggie soup (squash or marungai leaves) for his meals. Nescafe instant coffee too. Precious score on the recipe box contents.

Did you say no electricity? My mum is in her 50's (57 I think).

Man, that is so awesome that you still have your grand-mom around!

so true Lizzy!

Rowena, if you ask her how old she is she'll tell you "I don't know"...

Yup, manual typewriter Elle Marie, you need some "major" finger power to type on one of those (I used to play with the one my mom had)

Take care everyone.
