honmei or giri?

Honmei means "real feelings" and giri means "duty or obligation". During Valentine's here they have two types of chocolate giving, honmei & giri.

I've written about this in the past here.

This is what I gave Satoshi, these "merci" (thank you) chocolates (honmei, of course!). He likes milk so that is what I gave him. He was so happy, he ate them all in one day.

This is the box he got from his staff (giri choco). (Thank you!)

There were these cute chocolate tea cups in the set, the semi-sweet chocolate cups were flavored with earl grey and the milk chocolate cups were a milk tea flavor.

On the bottom of the "tea cups" they actually had "Afternoon Tea" written on them, just like real china.

Satoshi shared with me the darker chocolates, like this one filled with caramel.

I guess I'll have to wait until White Day (March 14) for my Valentine's gift.

I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day!

Nice of Satoshi to share his giri choco with you! Fun that they are from Afternoon Tea--the company Sazaby, that partnered w/ SBUX in Japan owns them so I used to go there quite a bit when I was in Tokyo. ;-)

Just glancing at the chocolate's green square package, when you began the sentence "Honmei means "real feelings" and giri means "duty or obligation", I thought you were writing about condoms. lol

They were Biologie especially since I love earl grey :)

Me, I probably wouldn't share Rowena :0

These were by Afternoon Tea, Tofugirl, not sure who actually made them.

Next month Paz, March 14th :)

Debinhawaii, don't they have fun stuff there? I love their dishes!

You are funny Pomai :)

Thanks Ivo :)

Take care everyone!

i love that. all i can think of, after reading too many romantic chick-lit books, is how sad a girl would be to get giri when she really wanted honmei! LOL:)

those are some very ono looking chocolates. . .are the MERCI chocs popular there? or from a French shop? i love the box as much as what's inside!

nah those Merci chocolates are made by a shop that specializes in cakes Deb :) I think it is sad that they bring in all the French chocolates and other good stuff for the guys on 2/14. And all the choices for for chocolate for 3/14 is kinda slim pickings. :(

Take care.
