Sometimes I crave a fish sandwich for lunch...but don't want to go to "you know where" for one.
Luckily for me, some of the bakeries in our area have their own fish filet sandwiches.
Like the one from Ferdinand....homemade bun, some lettuce, a little tartar sauce.
Their sandwich is a bit tiny, maybe 4 inches in diameter? their fish a bit on the dry side and a bit pricey at 250 yen (about US$2.50) but it does satisfy the craving.
And the one from Anri...the bun is white, I think there is some rice flour in there which made the bun super chewy.
The fish filet was HUGE, maybe about 5 or 6 inches long??
This one also has some lettuce and a dab of tartar sauce...and only 179 yen (about US$1.79)
That price alone would make me skip going to "you know where"...and why is the one at "you know where" 352 calories in Japan and the one in the US 380??...

^-^ That looks better than McDonald's. And before I read through the whole post, I thought the last pic was a macaron gone out of control!
Rowena, THAT would be bambucha :)
Take care.

Oh, I know it's bad for you and I don't eat there often but sometimes I really like McDonald's and I haven't had filet-o-fish in a while. Arby's used to have a good fish sandwich when I worked there years ago, don't know it's still as good. It's Lent here in the states and a lot of places are offering deals on fish sandwiches.
Maybe the fish sandwich in Japan has slightly less tartar sauce?
The last one looks like Pac-Man with a filet-o-fish catch!
Probably lots more tarters sauce in US
I crave them too sometimes but usually will make them when I do--not the same but still good and keeps me from "you know where!"
It's gotta be the portion size on the calories don't you think? ;-)
Those look delicious! I have to admit, I used to love fish sandwiches from YKWhere (haha) when I was little...my friends and I tried the one from Wendy's last year and it was ok for what it was.
I think you might be right about the tartar Donna :)
That is funny Jalna :)
I think you may be right about the tartar too Anon :)
I wondered about the size of the sandwich too Debinhawaii but have never tried it when I go home (too many other yummy things to eat!)
We just lost our Wendy's here, K, so I am bummed I can't compare it :(
Take care everyone!
