sakura walks

Today was sunny...if you were in the shade it was a bit nippy, but if you were out in the sun, it was quite...hot!

I walked from Umeda to Sakuranomiya.

I've been here several times...it is an area that has cherry trees along the river.

(click on this photo and I hope it will take you to Youtube to view the video)

From Sakuranomiya, I walked back towards Umeda and through Ogimachi Park.

It was a nice day to be out and about.

So jealous that you can enjoy the blooms without the crowds!
I was looking at pictures of crowds at Ueno Park yesterday but also had been there for peak bloom several years ago. I was so shocked by the swarms of people, blue tarp, long lines at the restrooms for even the men, mountains of trash that I could not enjoy the flowers. Even trying to get out of Ueno Station was like being stuffed on the train during rush hour. I guess Ueno Park during peak bloom is a must try Japan experience, LOL.
I was able to be at Fukuoka Castle ruins during full bloom too and it was not crowded like Ueno Park so it was really beautiful.

V,
When we first moved to Japan, we would check out the festivals and such, fighting the crowds...but doing so seems to take all the excitement away from the festivities, so we stay far away from these events and areas and try to find our own places for cherry blossoms & autumn leaves. Also we try to go early, so that the crowds are coming as we are leaving :)

Take care :)

I think it's awesome that you get these places without a soul in them -- it adds so much to the serenity of the pic!

most times I get lucky Rowena, other times I wait until the people clear out of the shot :)

Take care.
