cherry berry

We tried a new (to us) strawberry variety called Cherry Berry.

The color is a deep red like cherries.

And it is super sweet.

Apparently it is a type of Tochiotome strawberry, from Tochigi Prefecture.

I'm glad we got to try this and will keep an eye out for it in the future.

they look almost artificial, so beautiful!

Here, we only have Driscolls. Huge and looks good, but absolutely no taste! only good for dipping in chocolate or sour cream and brown sugar!

V, the fruit in Japan is so delicious, I think it is because they are picked when ripe unlike the types that are shipped and need to be picked earlier

Take care!

omigosh it's gorgeous!!! funny, I was checking on my strawberry plants (they were all under garden cloth or in the greenhouse) and some produced berries (still green though) even through winter. the -3° temps froze them solid, poor things.
