marron

chestnut in French is marron.

A lot of marron items are out since it is Autumn.

Bummer the weather is still warm and sometimes humid...

This marron cream pie from Vie de France was delicious
 

it had lots of marron paste as well as a whole chestnut in it.

I tried the marron pound cake from Starbucks, this was moist but I wished there were more chestnuts in it.

Today is gloomy and rainy, it was also kinda humid in the morning.

Spent some time with V.

We walked from her hotel to Ginza and explored

Saw this giraffe objet, not sure who made it or why

Meidi-ya, a "grocery shop" that has been around since 1885, a high end shop that imports goods from all over the world

love their brand of peanut butter

We also checked out the Iwate Antenna Shop
 

Lunch was at Pyon Pyon Sha, which serves Morioka style reimen (cold noodles)

We've had this in the past in Iwate, and at this shop.

Our lunch also came with "cook your own" meat...kalbi and harami (skirt steak)

V said some of her meat was tough, I thought mine was okay

Was kinda blazing so we were thankful for a/c

My photos uploaded wonky, this was the salad, namul and sauce for the meat

We wrapped our cooked meat in the salad...love

It was V's first time trying Morioka style reimen, hope she enjoyed it.

After lunch we went to look for some items that V wanted to buy.

And ended up at Coredo Muromachi, a rather large shopping mall

There was even a tiny shrine, Fukutoku

And since we were nearby, we checked out Imoya Kinjiro, which I've been wanting to try.

They make all sorts of snacks with sweet potato from Kochi Prefecture.

I bought a small bag of kenpi, strips of sweet potato that are fried and candied.

These were good, not too hard or too sticky. I can see why they are so popular

You can also purchase their "just fried" kenpi, wouldn't mind trying this when the weather gets colder.

V gave a lot of goodies, thank you!

Thanks for today V! have a safe trip back to Hawaii.
