Went to JINS to get the lenses changed for my glasses on Sunday.

Since it would take about 30 minutes, we went to eat something at Futaba Fruits Parlor.

Their main shop is in Nakano, in west Tokyo.

I ordered their chocolate banana parfait...from the bottom of the glass…coffee jelly (gelatin), whipped cream, chocolate sauce, granola, vanilla ice cream, bananas, nuts & a cherry...so delicious (and HUGE)! 880 yen (tax included)

Satoshi had their shrimp avocado crab "dog"...1100 yen (tax included).

There wasn’t a hot dog just the bun.

It was kind of hard to eat but he said he enjoyed it.

While we were eating, Satoshi said he wanted to go to Zoff, the place where he bought his glasses from to see if they could change the nose pads since it was falling apart.

So after we got my pair of glasses, we went to Zoff.

Well, while the guy was checking the nose pads, the frame somehow broke, so they are replacing the glasses for free…sounds great right?!

Well, the new pair would take two weeks.

They were going to make him a "loaner" but the problem was that his lenses have far and near prescriptions on them, and without his glasses he cannot see anything!

The shop could only put near or far onto the "loaner", so I suggested they "mcgyver tape" his broken frames (both sides!) so that at least he would be able to see near and far.

He has to be careful when looking down, just in case the lenses fall out.

It looks kind of cheesy but at least he can see.

And in two weeks he'll have a new pair of glasses.

1st world problems yeah?!

Oh, and we'll be back to Futaba Fruits Parlor, maybe to try their lunch menu...

I was looking for this at the Daiso stores around our area and finally found it at the Daiso near my dentist's office.

It magnifies your smartphone screen, so you don't need to sit too close to watch videos.

It costs more than 100 yen though, 220 yen (tax included).

Worth it.

AND "someone" already has taken it for himself...

guess I gotta go get another one...

Myorakuji also known as Ajisaidera is located about an hour from where we live.

Tucked away in the hills, this is a pretty quiet area.

It is known as Ajisaidera because there are many ajisai (hydrangea) plants around the property.

There were quite a number of people even if it didn't look like it in my photos.

It was super humid but I'm glad we got to check out this temple and their hydrangea.

Sunday, we went to Kawasaki to order my lenses for a new pair of glasses.

Luckily I'll be able to use my old frame and they'll just put in the new lenses this coming Sunday.

For them to change the lenses, it will cost 11000 yen (tax included) (about $110) for the lenses and the labor.

After we ordered the lenses, hung over Satoshi wanted to eat udon for lunch, so we checked out Marugame Udon.

He had their kitsune udon, while I went with the bukkake udon with a kashiwa ten (fried chicken).

Our udons together cost 990 yen (tax included).

Happy I found instant hiyashi chuka with the sesame based sauce...whoo!

Bought some Hio Ice cream...lemon & peanut butter.

The peanut butter was creamy with lots of peanut flavor.

We look forward to trying the lemon one soon.

Today starts the allowance of small group tours to Japan.

The guidelines are pretty strict, and probably "no fun" (mask up) but you gotta remember that we are still in a "pandemic".

Japan case numbers are going down (super slowly).

One year ago, I was telling you about this cat. Hoping he is okay, haven't seen him out these days.

Six years ago, I shared some of the recipes I look forward to making during summer.

As well as the fruits and veggies, we love during summer.

Ten years ago, we got our first portable wi-fi router. 

rainy season

Rainy season started on Monday for our area.

Apparently, Kyushu, and the rest of Southern Honshu haven't started their rainy season yet.

So weird, yeah?!

Not to mention that the temps went backwards to April…brr

torikyu

Tried Torikyu's tokusei bento on Saturday...800 yen (tax included)

It comes with a negima yakitori (chicken stick with leeks), chicken katsu, karaage (fried chicken), tsukune (chicken meat ball) and potato simmered in a shoyu mirin sauce.

This was filling and delicious.

The katsu was a little dry because I think they use breast meat…everything else was delicious.

The potato and tsukune was so so good...sweet salty and super tender.

The back story:  I wanted to try their nori bento but they didn't have it on this day.

So, while standing in line I was going to get my favorite, the kiji bento instead which is grilled chicken, but the lady in front of me bought all that they had left! (which was 2 bentos)...boo!

Having to think quickly as to what to order, I tried something different, their tokusei bento.

I'm glad I did because now I know how ono their karaage, potato and tsukune is.
