Hi Kat, regarding your comment on hiking, do read Bryson's book, it is so very inspirational. I was thinking that if Hawaii had these kind of refuges with "eats" at the end of the rainbow, then more people might take on the activity.
Still your Fuji exodus is the ultimate dream. I want one of those walking sticks!!! ;-)
I think I will read that book after I'm finished with the one I'm munching on now. I think you are right, if there were more "eats" at the end of the trails, more people would be going hiking in Hawaii :)
I hope you get to climb Mt Fuji soon, those sticks, though expensive to get the stamps (about $2 each), is still one of the best souvenir!
Wow! Your Mt Fuji photos are awesome especially the sunrise! What a fabulous adventure. :) We tried looking into doing a hike up to Mt Fuji too when I was in Japan back in April but found that it was only do-able in the summer months.. pity.. maybe next time.
You can actually climg Mt Fuji year round Ilingc, it is just that you are at your own risk during these months. The only time the mountain huts and first aid station is available is during the summer months (actually July 1 to mid-August). I would recommend going at the beginning of July, if you wait until the end of July or beginning of August, you will run into major crowds going up the mountain!

This post by far has always been my favorite and actually inspired me to want to seriously get into hiking...which we will for sure this summer!
Thanks Rowena! I hope you enjoy hiking, will definitely want to hear about your adventures (hopefully without the little snakes!)
Take care.

This must have been quite an experience...I've taken a car up Mt. Washington in NH, but that's only 6288 ft....
What an amazing adventure! It must have been life-changing!
It was amazing, Lone Beader & Jenndz.
Thanks for stopping by, take care.
