around the neighborhood

Friday was rainy off and on, the wind was quite strong too.

On my walk back from buying something for lunch, I got another glimpse at the grey heron and some ducks.

I also saw an itachi (weasel), but it was too fast for me to get a photo of it...see, I really need a camera in my eye. It looked like a mongoose but a little smaller.

Then after lunch and my nap, the rain stopped and looked like it was clearing up, so I went for a little walk.

I noticed all these leaves had collected in a ditch, even though they had all fallen from the tree, the colors were still bright and beautiful.

Do you know Ikeda was famous for wild boar? Some website says wild boar, fox, tanuki(racoon dog) and deer still live in north of Satsukiyama park.
This website reported Ikeda's wild boar.

Hi Kat,

sounds like a nice walk (minus the weasel-wouldn't want to run into one of those!)

Still no flying duck pics huh.

Beautiful photos, I love the colored leaves. All the leaves here are long gone haha.

OOh too bad you couldn't get the weasel's photo. I have never seen one!

I can't tell you how sad a day it was when our japanese maple succumbed to some sort of fungus. It killed our tree, and we had to dig it out. I love the colors!

I wouldn't be surprised Anon, I've seen snakes up near Mt. Myoken.

Hope to capture on on film sometime Saramari :)

Thanks Jalna :)

Man that is sad Rowena, do you think you will try and plant another? I remember you posting about a fungus that got your peach tree, wonder if it was the same one? Good luck with your garden in 2010.

Take care everyone!

Beautiful pics. Very nice one of the heron. We have them around lake Kitaura, but I've not been able to get so close.

Hey Kat - Let me know when you find that "camera in my eye" thing! I'll need one because I'm always kicking myself for missing stuff. ;o)

When I get it Kirk, I'll let you know ;)

Take care.
