I've heard that the trail to the Minoo Falls has hotaru, but we've never had a chance to check it out...until this past Saturday.
Tons of families on the trail.
There weren't as many hotaru as when we first saw them in Oita (Kyushu), but we were still in awe to see them in our area.
By the way, the photo above is of a genjibotaru, a type of hotaru that we have in our area, that I took a couple years back.
The weather has been weird, hot some days, really rainy during others. In some parts of Japan they even had hail!

Your weather sounds like our weather (psycho), and if I hear even one peep about snow in the mountains...
The fireflies over here are really tiny. During the day, I wouldn't know one even if I saw it, so we can only tell they're around when it's night time. We did earlier when it was hot! Dumb weather.
I still remember the first time I saw fireflies Kat...I was enthralled...weird, I know.
We're still waiting for the hotaru here in Ishikawa-ken. Our neighbor said it won't be long now!
I've never seen them before Must be so cool.
