saying goodbye

toba7 I first "met" Nate, when he emailed me to find out how to set up his blog in 2006.

We conversed through emails and finally met up in person at Poke Stop.

I recently got an email from Dennis, another blog friend, saying he had emailed Nate, but hadn't received a reply.

Maybe he was busy at work? Taking a break from blogging?

Then, I checked his FB (Facebook) wall...he had passed away.

I was shocked, I just saw him over the summer, he didn't seem sick.

I am thankful for his friendship, and am gonna miss his kindness and generosity.

He's influenced some of the food I've made on this blog...here, here, here and here and here.

We've also had some foodie adventures..here, here, here, here, here and here.

Take care Nate, you will be missed!

Hi Kat, I'm going to miss Nate's posts a lot. Was a big fan of his blog since the days he was stationed in Okinawa. I'm sad I've never had a chance to meet him and hang and eat in person. We lost a good friend. My sympathy goes to his family.

Thank you for posting about Nate's passing. I thought his lengthy absence was odd, but had no way of finding out what happened. He seemed like a good guy and I am truly sad he is gone. My heart goes out to his loved ones.

I, like everyone here, am as shocked and sad to hear of Nate's passing. Even if I knew him only virtually the loss is deep, and I can only imagine how terrible it is for his family. His food posts always put a smile on my face. And his stuffed bittermelon...oh yeah what a delicious recipe!

I am so sad to hear this...

I remember when I was posting on my blog, he was one of the few visitors/commenters. Such a great guy - also wondered why his blog was not being updated. This is just such sad news...my prayers are with his family. Thank you for letting us know.

Oh, I am so saddened to hear about Nate. I don't know how I missed reading this post of yours, too. I had looked for his blog and noticed it was restricted, but did not think this could be the reason! Miss you, Hwnpake!
