Met up with my friend Hiromi for lunch and walking.
From our place, we walked to Hashimototei.
It was so humid and gross but we had lots of fun chatting along the way.
Over the years, Satoshi and I have had lunch at Hashimototei many times.
On this day, Hiromi and I ordered their bihada lunch...1000 yen.
Bihada literally means beautiful skin.
For 1000 yen, I thought we got a really good deal. There was a generous piece of grilled karei (right-eye flounder). The fish was cooked perfectly.
It had a mushroom gravy which I thought didn't really match, but was delicious and rich.
Usually I freak out eating fish with lots of bones in it and usually end up making a mess because I am not too good with chopsticks, but I think I did a pretty good job of eating it nicely.
The salad had all sorts of different veggies in it including goya, okra and daikon.
I love ratatouille and it was nice that they had served it cold. Perfect for the humidity!
The corn egg drop soup was nice, I liked their addition of the corn.
The simmered kabocha seemed to be traditional Japanese style with shoyu and a little mirin (sweet rice wine)...yum!
And the rice was the purple rice (kodaimai).
Lots of different dishes but lots of veggies.
After lunch, we did a little grocery shopping and then went our separate ways.
It was nice catching up with Hiromi, I hope she had a nice time too.
