wi-fi

We just got this portable wi-fi router. Our internet provider said for an extra 300 yen a month, we could use this router for 2 years.

Pretty good deal as my cell phone provider wants to charge 490 yen a month for wi-fi service at their gazillion spots.

Since we still have our LAN service (we still have a laptop not a tablet), I didn't set up our computer to use the wi-fi, just my iPhone.

Next step is to get Satoshi to start using a smartphone, though he's waiting for the iPhone 5...

Oh and our rainy season has started...let the humidity and uncomfortableness begin...

Hey Kat!

I was just in Japan last week and was able to rent that same exact unit for internet access on my trip. It was wonderful! :) Japan has the neatest stuff, I wish I could go back soon!

We are seriously considering going with satellite internet, but I told MotH that I do not want to see a dish hanging off the terrace. To get someone to install it on the roof will probably cost a lot too, but what else can we do? Tired of being "stuck" on youtube or when a page has a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. At one point I even disabled javascript so that pages would load faster. Grrrrr....

I wonder if you could get something through your cable company, Rowena? That is how a lot of people here get their internet service, we on the other hand are still a little "old school" and too "chang" to pay for cable.

Take care.

Our internet is provided by the phone company, and already that in itself says a lot about the junk service. With a satellite set-up, we would be able to have phone, cell, internet, and cable tv all in one but it's the initial fees that is making me balk. I'd hate to get into a contract and then lose out if we suddenly gotta move.

ah that makes sense Rowena, I wouldn't want to fork out a lot for the deposit either, just in case I had an opportunity to move.

Take care.
