It's almost the end of February.
The prime minister announced that he wants all schools in Japan to close from next Monday...
this means "taking an early Spring Break" but should lessen crowding on trains...
of course everyone is in a panic...
no time to figure out where kids will be able to stay while their parents work...
Fuyofukyu is a word they've been using which means non-essential non-urgent = if you don't need to go anywhere, don't.
Everything is shutting down for awhile here...theme parks, events, museums...
There is some talk about the Olympics being postponed...
Apparently there was a run on TP (toilet paper)...
Also since China is shut down, there are many items that aren't being imported like frozen veggies, merchandise for 100 yen stores as well as parts for cars and items for other businesses...
I went to restock a few food items today but didn't buy too much because I don't have that much fridge space.
(I did find more blood oranges...whoo!)
I do have some foods in the freezer and pantry and am only worried about fresh foods (veggies, fruits), but think we can survive for awhile with what we have.
For the moment, Satoshi still has to report to work, though he did say that there were a lot of reservation cancels (he works for a travel agent).
Have a feeling this is going to get worse before it gets better.
Have a nice weekend.
Be well everyone.

it's getting scary but kind of wonder if it is just crowd mentality. The traffic around Costco Iwilei was crazy yesterday because of the announcement to be prepaid with a 14 day survival kit so everyone rushed out to hoard. Sure wish the stores would refuse returns/refunds for these people. A woman was bragging about buying up all the hand sanitizers, tp, etc. in numerous trips to the stores, and how many more she had stockpiled at home.
Aaah, I've come down with a cold and am afraid to sneeze or cough within sight or earshot of people, LOL
v
So crazy how this is all escalating, I hope you're able to get everything you need and stay safe!
a run on toilet paper?!?! it's hand sanitizer here, heck even amazon won't have any ready to send out until another 1-3 weeks. I am gonna make my own if the pharmacy hasn't run out of the necessary ingredients.
MotH's work place was going to have an automated hand sanitizing station set up at the entry to the building, but the health bigwigs in Lombardia just declared that all sanitizing equipment will be utilized for hospitals only, in case they run out!
One good thing about this virus thing is that diesel prices have dropped the lowest I've seen in months. too bad nobody wants get out and about.
I'm just like V, sore throat and coughing for the last few days, and I feel exactly like her.
I hope the stores refuse returns too V, that sounds just awful! Hope you feel better soon too.
You take care and stay safe too K!
Actually Rowena, it is a run on all sorts of sanitizing stuff...hope you guys stay safe too.
You take care Jalna, feel better soon.
Take care everyone.

People are getting a bit crazed about this Kat. One guy told me "you folks are giving everyone Coronavirus".....so, to piss him off even more; I offered him a hug.
I think everyone needs a hug Kirk...common sense has definitely gone out the window.
Take care.
Kat
