portuguese "bean" soup

Made a small batch of Portuguese Bean soup with a couple of the linguica...my only problem was that I couldn't find a can of kidney beans at the market I was at.
I ended up buying these kidney beans...50 grams.

This product is intended to be added to salads.

And this one with 5 beans and 5 grains...40 grams.

Tastewise, the soup came out pretty close to what I've had at home.

I'm glad I got to make this.

looks perfect!
I don't like kidney beans so use a can of refried beans, LOL, and I just made a batch last week.

oh different, V! hard to find refried beans here too though :) your soup must be thick with the refried beans.

Take care!

These days the Missus won't let me use canned beans anymore Kat. I need to make it from dried beans.....what a pain!

it is indeed soup weather these day, but I'm not complaining (considering how HOT and DRY it was last month!)

Rowena, I cannot wait for it to get cooler here, still so hot during the daytime.

Take care!

Recipe?

Anon,
No recipe, just sauteed some ham with the linguica which I took out of the casings, added some chopped onion, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, water, a can of diced tomato, tablespoon of tomato paste, a little paprika, pepper. At the end added what beans I had just to warm them up.

Take care!
