this and that

I ordered this appetizer salad at Saint Marc and they wouldn't let me order a baguette/roll to eat with it.

I can understand that they could not give me the baguette/roll "free", but I was willing to pay and was still denied...boo!

Blue Poppy Bakery...pistachio pain suisse

The filling oozed out and was kind of a "limp" croissant...bummer.

Their oatmeal cookie was soft and chewy.

I went late in the day, so choices were slim, will try to go back earlier so I can try other things.

A rare day to see Mount Fuji.

Most days the heat and humidity brings in clouds and covers her up.

Dunno if I shared this before but this is my secret weapon these days.

A large ice pack.

Apparently if you are having/suffering from heatstroke, you should "cool" areas like under your arms and areas near your groin.

I usually wrap this with a small cloth bag and tuck it under my arm while I walk to the market.

It doesn’t get rid of the humidity or heat, but does help make things a little bearable.

After shopping, I use the ice pack to keep my foods cool while I walk back home.

I repotted the blood orange plant that I have on my lanai, hoping it will get big enough to produce fruit.
Tokyo People...spotted this grandpa in a teeny go cart type vehicle recently in Sangenchaya.

Last Thursday I went to make a mold for my crown, then over the weekend the cement the dentist patched "the hole" with came off, then on Monday they squeezed me in and luckily the crown was ready so they put it on (thank you!)

Tried the curry with stewed chicken at Coco Ichibanya.

I like how tender the chicken is, so I think this will be my new "go to".

Whenever we eat here, I almost always add cheese and also lessen the amount of rice.

What is your favorites at Coco Ichibanya?

Genmai Ohagi from Okita Seimai.
Tuesday night there was a little excitement in front of our building, not sure what happened but hope it wasn't serious.
Photos uploaded wonky...the purple rice and genmai ohagi that I purchased from Okita Seimai.

It's been so krazy hot here that I've not been masking, not even on the train...well, I did when we rode the Shinkansen to Kyoto, but for the most part I have not been masking.

I do carry one around with me just in case I am in a crowd.

Hope you all are doing well, have a safe weekend.

Certainly is weird that St Marc won't let you order the bread. Looks like it would have made a really good sandwich!
My favorite at Coco Ichiban is just with mixed vegetables and sometimes adding the stewed chicken too. I always ask for extra pickles and the one at Ala Moana was putting so much extra that I could scrape most of it off and save it for a couple more meals :) I kinda laughed to see how little pickles you got.
your "trick" with the ice packs also cracks me up! It's not as miserable here but I have a couple of cooling cloths that you wet and drape around your neck, head or just to carry and wipe to cook down. I'm still debating whether they work or not but leaning toward it does help.

I tried those cloths V, but it made me feel like my clothes were sticking to me more than feeling cool.

Jalna, I hope you like this idea :)

Take care you two.

Rowena, and they had the nerve to ask me for feedback...was going to, but all they wanted was an email address to send stuff to...

Take care.

Kirk, thanks, crossing fingers I won't need to see the dentist until my 6 month cleaning :)
