Funny that you came back to Hawaii to buy the vegetable shredder. I found mine at Tokyu Hands. But, since then, I've picked one up that looks more like the OXO one . The one from Tokyu Hands seems a little harder to use.
I just ate a banh mi on Saturday, well, half of my mothers. so good.
