yaoya jazz

Stumbled upon this cute produce shop called Yaoya Jazz.

Yaoya means produce shop.

The kaki (persimmon) that they were selling were so orange! (and were super sweet)

The lady at the shop was so nice too.

I'll be back when I am in this area.

I bought 2 giant kaki when I was there. They were both dark orange like these and both were still little crunchy and so sweet! These are way better than the early ones I usually buy so must be a late season variety? I even found a seed in one so I'm going to try planting it. I tried planting a seed I found in a Maui kaki last year and sprouted several inches but it got waterlogged in several days of heavy rain and died :(

love the deep color of that variety. we're thinking of getting another persimmon tree, but that type (they call 'em apple persimmon here) instead of the one you gotta wait and wait til ready. I've seen only Jiro and O'Gosho variety at the nursery.

I don't know all the different varieties Rowena, hope you get a variety that you can enjoy right away instead of having to wait until they are ripe.

Take care.
